THE 'WALLz RULz' PROJECT

project overview

The aim of this project is for students to demonstrate their understanding of linear relationships by 'interpreting/replicating' elements in artworks created by conceptual artists including Sol Lewitt. Students will use skills that include plotting points and lines, finding equations of lines and points of intersection to reproduce art work, firstly in geogebra, then in art. The project will also provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate a graphical and theoretical understanding of parallel and perpendicular lines and the solutions to pairs of simultaneous equations.

SOL LEWITT'S ROOM IN NSW AG

video of the sol lewitt's room

Above and on the left is a room installation created by Sol LeWitt and displayed at the Art Gallery of NSW. The images and video was taken by me (Ms. Axford). This piece is the inspiration and starting point for our project. For you will be designing your own version of this room installation and displaying it as a scaled prototype.
