A whole new world
world building/identity & Livability
In this project a new world is created. We have used our world poorly and now have a new one to use better. Students use skills in Art, Mathematics and English, combined with knowledge gained in Science and HASS to create a new world and communicate its features and how it functions at the natural and society level.
Essential Question: If you could design and create your own world, what would it be like?
Key / Guiding Questions:
1. How do you build a sustainable world?
2. How do you apply perspective and scale to natural and unnatural objects?
3. What does your society look like and how does it function?
4. How do people and animal species adapt to the geographical landscape they live in?
5. How will you create the bird’s eye view map, your own race of people, ethnic groups, animal species, language, names of significant places in two and three dimensional representations?

you are creating 'zoom in' artworks

step 1: Research
The key to your research is to understand how artists combined Art and Knowledge to create imaginative artworks like James Gurney and Patricia Piccinini.
STEP 2: Idea Generation
Let's do a brain dump! using brainstorming techniques using mind maps and lists
What are different types landforms and landscapes you can depict/create for your new world? e.g mountain range, woodland, capital city, village.
what are the key features/details you could include?

List as many animals/creatures that exist and could inspire your 'zoom in' artworks. Think Land, Sea and Air.
step 3: Source Imagery for inspiration and reference
step 4: Concept / preliminary drawings
ONE POINT perspective LANDSCAPE
Perspective is used by artists to create the illusion of depth and distance in a painting or drawing. Creating 3D effects on a 2D surface like paper, wall space or canvas is made possible with the use of perspective.
One Point Perspective - One point perspective is typically used for roads, railway tracks, pathways, or trees viewed so that the front is directly facing the viewer. It works on the principle that all perspective lines (eg edges of the road or path) lead to one vanishing point.
