Who are the artists inspiring this project?
PIET MONDRIAN
Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter who only used Primary Colours in his painting. While many artists would have found this limiting he found it inspiring. He was born in 1872, he spent a lot of time growing up around people who studied art including his father and his uncle. Today he is famous for being one of the pioneers of the Abstract movement. Abstract art uses Shapes, Colours and Forms rather than realistic things such as people. Mondrian created something totally new for the time simplifying his artworks into geometric shapes. He was also strict about only using horizontal and vertical lines and the values of white, grey and black. Mondrian influenced many artist who came after him plus fashion, design and architecture. Simplicity was the point.
